Unholy Death Knight

Unholy is a damage-over-time melee spec with strong pet contribution. You apply Virulent Plague, build Festering Wounds on the target, then burst them open with Scourge Strike and Apocalypse to summon ghouls. It scales well into multi-target and has some of the best sustained cleave in the game.

How this spec operates

• Runes and Runic Power fuel wound setup and Death Coil — manage both to avoid downtime.
• Virulent Plague from Outbreak is your disease backbone — keep it rolling on priority targets.
• Bank Festering Wound stacks, then burst with Scourge Strike and Apocalypse for ghoul explosions.
• Dark Transformation and Army of the Dead are major pet windows — stack wounds before pressing them.
• Multi-target damage scales through Death and Decay, Epidemic, and pet cleave — position inside your zone.
