Voidscar Arena

Mythic+ guide · Midnight · Patch 12.1

All dungeons

Voidscar Arena is a three-boss gladiator dungeon in the Voidstorm zone. Path choice at the start grants Proof of Endurance (left) or Proof of Mastery (right), and each boss tests positioning, add control, and gravitational orb management on Charonus.

30:00Midnight12.1

Route and gates

  • At the start, choose left (Aegyra → Proof of Endurance) or right (Raj'kess → Proof of Mastery).
  • Most groups go left — fewer interrupts required and a more generally useful movement buff.
  • The arena section spawns mobs as you pull — pace pulls rather than merging everything.
  • Kill all three Devouring Brutalizers before Charonus arena opens.
  • Save cooldowns for Charonus — orb collapse and Void Cascade timing is the final check.

Trash that ends keys

  • Interrupt Dominated Brawler Demoralizing Shout and Enthralled Shaman Lava Bolt.
  • Break Champion's Spear tethers quickly — then spread for Savage Smash.
  • Kill Killvore Screamer Mass Shriek is required — AoE fear on every pull.
  • Destroy Brutal Overseer shield during Brutal Slams channel to stop AoE.
  • CC Voidtouched Magi when interrupt rotation is overwhelmed on the right-path packs.

What to kick

2×

Always kick

Miss one and someone dies.

  • Shadow Bolt Volley
    Enthralled Shaman

Raid-wide shadow damage — highest priority in arena trash.

  • Shadowbolt Volley
    Voidtouched Magi

Heavy raid damage on right path — interrupt every cast.

2×

Kick when you can

Costs healing or time if it goes off.

  • Demoralizing Shout
    Dominated Brawler

Reduces group damage done — interrupt or kill quickly.

  • Mass Shriek
    Killvore Screamer

AoE fear — must be interrupted every time.

1×

Spare kicks

Only when nothing above is casting.

  • Devour
    Devouring Brutalizer

Kill the targeted low-health mob before cast completes.

Taz'Rah

An ethereal gladiator whose Nether Dash fires lines through each player, leaving Umbral Rupture puddles. Loosely spread near the edge, clump shades for puddle control, and dodge Dark Bloom orbs.

The fight, in order

  1. 1

    Pull & spread

Loosely spread near edge. Clump shades to control Umbral Rupture placement.

Pull Taz'Rah near the arena edge and loosely spread so Nether Dash lines do not cleave allies. Kill Gather Shadows adds quickly or stack them in one clump at the edge before dash — pooled Umbral Rupture puddles in one spot leave the rest of the floor clean.

    Everyone
  2. 2

    Nether Dash

Lines through each player — spread without cleaving. Puddles land near clumped shades.

Nether Dash fires a line through every player — give each person space so lines do not hit multiple people. Clump shades before dash so Umbral Rupture puddles cluster at the edge, not through center. Never stand in void puddles.

    Everyone
  3. 3

    Void Blast

Tank defensive on Void Blast. Avoid knockback into puddles.

Tank uses active mitigation on Void Blast and positions with back toward open floor. Knockback into Umbral Rupture puddles is a spike kill — face away from void zones before every blast. Pre-hot tank before each cast.

    Tank
  4. 4

    Dark Bloom

Rotate around room dodging orbs from puddles after Umbral Rupture.

After Umbral Rupture, keep rotating around the room during Dark Bloom — orb paths are easier to dodge with circular movement. Do not stand in puddle origins or stop healing in void zones. Scattered shades mean puddles everywhere.

    Everyone
  5. 5

    Repeat & win

Cycle spread, shade clump, and rotation dodges until Taz'Rah falls.

Every cycle: clump shades at edge, spread for dash, tank mitigates blast, rotate for bloom. Stacking during Nether Dash or blast knockback into puddles is the primary wipe cause. Control shade positioning — it decides whether you have floor left.

    Everyone

Do this

  1. Loosely spread near arena edge for Nether Dash — lines fire through each player without cleaving allies.
  2. Clump shades together so Umbral Rupture puddles stack in one area, not across the room.
  3. Tank defensive on Void Blast — do not get knocked into existing Umbral Rupture puddles.
  4. On Dark Bloom: puddles shoot orbs — keep rotating around the room after Umbral Rupture to dodge.
  5. Stay out of Umbral Rupture void zones on the floor throughout the fight.
  6. Gather Shadows shades need to be killed or stacked before Nether Dash lines fire.

Not this

  • Stacking during Nether Dash — lines cleave through multiple players.
  • Void Blast knockback into Umbral Rupture puddles — spike plus DoT.
  • Spreading Umbral Rupture puddles across the entire arena — no safe floor left.
  • Standing still during Dark Bloom orb volleys.

  • Stand here
Spread at edge
  1. A line fires from the boss through every player.
  2. Spread loosely near the edge so no line hits two.
  3. Clump the shades first: the puddles land in one place.

Nether Dash

Loosely spread near the arena edge so lines do not cleave allies. Clump ethereal shades together before dash — pooled Umbral Rupture puddles in one spot leave the rest of the floor clean.

Line attacks fire through each player, leaving Umbral Rupture puddles where shades were clumped.

Everyone
Leave the puddle
  1. Void puddles stay on the floor and hit hard.
  2. Step out of any puddle at once.
  3. Keep them clustered at the edge so the centre stays clean.

Umbral Rupture

Never stand in Umbral Rupture puddles. Control shade positioning so puddles cluster at the edge, not through the center.

Void puddles on the floor that deal heavy damage to anyone standing in them.

Everyone
Mitigate, land clean
  1. Tank puts open floor behind them, away from puddles.
  2. Use active mitigation for the strike.
  3. The knockback then lands on clean ground.

Void Blast

Tank uses active mitigation on Void Blast and positions with back toward open floor — knockback into Umbral Rupture is a spike kill.

Powerful strike on the tank with knockback.

Tank
Clump the shades
  1. Ethereal shades spawn around the room.
  2. Kill them fast, or stack them in one clump by the edge.
  3. Scattered shades spread puddles everywhere.

Gather Shadows

Kill shades quickly or stack them in one clump near the edge before Nether Dash fires. Shades left scattered spread Umbral Rupture across the arena.

Ethereal shades spawn and must be clumped before Nether Dash.

DamageEveryone
Keep circling
  1. Each puddle shoots orbs across the arena.
  2. Keep moving in a circle around the room.
  3. Never stop on a puddle the orbs come from.

Dark Bloom

Keep rotating around the room after Umbral Rupture — orb paths are easier to dodge when you maintain circular movement. Do not stand in puddle origins.

Puddles shoot multiple orbs across the arena.

Everyone

Your job

Tank

  • Defensive on every Void Blast; face away from Umbral Rupture puddles before the knockback.
  • Help clump shades near the edge before Nether Dash — puddle placement is fight-winning.
  • Taunt shades if they fixate squishy players during Gather Shadows.
  • Position near arena edge to give the group pull-out space from void zones.

Healer

  • Void Blast into puddle is a spike — externals on tank if puddles are near boss.
  • Nether Dash plus Dark Bloom overlap needs ramp — call when shades are scattered.
  • Pre-hot tank before Void Blast every cast.
  • Keep moving during Dark Bloom — standing heals in Umbral Rupture kill healers.

Damage

  • Clump shades at edge before Nether Dash — controls where Umbral Rupture lands.
  • Loosely spread for dash lines; do not cleave allies.
  • Kill Gather Shadows adds before they scatter across the room.
  • Rotate around the arena during Dark Bloom — do not stand in orb paths.
From the Encounter JournalBlizzard's own notes and ability list for Taz'Rah

Taz'Rah summons Ethereal Shades that perform Nether Dash, damaging targets in a line in front of them. Taz'rah's Dark Bloom causes Void Fissures to erupt.

  • Dark Bloom causes Void Fissures to erupt.

Healers

  • Nether Dash strikes all players in a line and inflicts Shadow damage over a long duration.
  • Dark Bloom inflicts heavy Shadow damage on all players and causes Void Fissures to erupt.
