Discipline Priest
Discipline Priest — Healer
Heal by dealing damage — Atonement turns your output into throughput.
Last updated 8/28/2026 by Guild guides
Overview
Discipline is the only healer that heals primarily by attacking. You apply Atonement to the group, then damage the boss, and a portion of that damage becomes healing spread across everyone with the buff. This means you must anticipate damage rather than react to it — ramping before a hit lands, not after.
How this spec operates
- Heal by dealing damage — Atonement converts your DPS into group healing.
- Ramp
Power Word: Radiance and shields before damage lands, not after.
Evangelism extends existing Atonement — press after the ramp, not before.
Schism amplifies the damage window that fuels atonement healing.- Poor at reactive recovery — fight knowledge and timing define your throughput.
Strengths & weaknesses
- Exceptional throughput on predictable, scheduled damage
- Contributes real damage to the kill
- Strong damage reduction with Pain Suppression and Barrier
- Poor at reactive healing — bad at fixing surprises
- Requires fight knowledge to ramp at the right time
- Weak when the group is already low and Atonement isn't out
Ramping for known damage
Left to right — use the first ability that is ready. Detailed notes for each step are below.
- 1Apply
Power Word: Shield and
Renew to spread Atonement. - 2
Power Word: Radiance to blanket the group — this is your main ramp tool. - 3
Schism or your damage amplifier on the boss. - 4
- 5Time the ramp so Atonement is out *before* the damage lands.
Radiance charges are your ramp budget. Two charges is roughly one ramp — plan around the fight timeline rather than pressing them as they come up.
Between damage events
