Overview
Devastation is built around empowered spells — you hold the cast to charge it through escalating ranks, then release. That mechanic gives the spec a rhythm nothing else has: you are constantly deciding whether a fuller cast is worth the extra time. Range is shorter than other casters, which is the main tradeoff.
How this spec operates
- Essence is your spender —
Disintegrate in single target, 
Pyre in AoE. - Empowered casts (
Fire Breath, 
Eternity Surge) define your damage — charge before damage windows. 
Dragonrage amplifies empower damage — align empowered spells inside it.
Hover and 
Azure Strike keep uptime during movement — don't stand still to finish channels.- Strong cleave from cone positioning — Fire Breath and
Deep Breath reward facing the pack.
